Polycom has unveiled the latest versions of its video collaborations suites – RealPresence Mobile 3.0, RealPresence Desktop and RealPresence CloudAXIS.
Desktop 3.0 is now Apple OSX compatible, while Mobile 3.0 works across more than a dozen devices, including all iOS platforms, the Galaxy S4, the Xperia line and LG’s Optimus G Pro.
According to zdnet.com, CloudAXIS can now be deployed in virtualised environments as well as custom built on-premise systems. The suite allows end users to access meetings via either a mobile device or a full room system, providing an end-to-end unified video communications solution.
Polycom says that CloudAXIS has been awarded a ‘VMware Ready’ status.
A.E. Natarajan, Polycom’s worldwide engineering senior vice president, said: “By using [virtualisation], enterprises can now deploy video collaboration in a virtualised VMware environment, in addition to an on-premises deployment running on custom-built systems,”
The mobile iteration, which comes in the form of an app, allows devices to be paired with videoconferencing room systems, so that mobile functionality, such as the camera, volume and content, can be controlled remotely. Images, HTML, PDFs and Microsoft Office documents can also be shared directly from within the app.
Dailyfinance.com reports that the free app will be available for download from both Google Play and the Apple AppStore from July.
