James Lovelock is about the most experienced scientist we have in the field of climate change. In March on the BBC he stated: "We are like someone in the forest who has found a gun and pulled the trigger, without understanding what we have done." He says humanity is not: "intelligent enough" to save itself.
He believes emissions from human activity are so acute that they must, inevitably destroy most of human life on earth. James Lovelock FRS, believes this is inevitable. Earth is moving to a much hotter state.
He makes us ask ourselves difficult questions of ourselves. Will we keep flying across the world, when we may not need to do so? That, is up to you. Harvard Business School's Rosabeth Moss Kanter has described the phenomena as "management by flying around".
I am a shareholder in Eyenetwork. If you replace flying with video conferencing or Telepresence, through Eyenetwork, I will make money. But there seems to me no contradiction in this position. In fact I am proud to profit by providing an important solution to the world's most serious problem.
If business people see our success at Eyenetwork, solving the problem of climate change, it will lead to others following this example. Business has no ideology. If we can show that business makes good money solving the problem of climate change, thousands of new business will spring up.
And the influence of those business will help to protect the world from this terrible crisis.
